The Story
The pyramids of Earth have captured imaginations for centuries. Still uncertain is how they were built, and why multiple cultures across the globe with no shared contact all underwent the Herculean task of building the same giant megaliths. What was the shared inspiration? Alien conspiracy theory buffs point to the pyramids on Mars in support of their claim that these wonders were inspired from off-world sources.
Most people have heard of the so-called “face on Mars,” the rock formation that showed up in one of the photographs from the 1976 Viking Orbiter. Conspiracy theorists say it’s a Martian monument carved in rock by an ancient civilization, while skeptics say it’s nothing more than a trick of light created by a natural geological formation. But apart from this famous Martian anomaly, it’s lesser known that researchers like Richard C Hoagland and David Wilcock believe that similar photographs from NASA’s public archive show additional signs that the red planet was once home to a now-extinct Martian civilization who built pyramids on Mars.
Once Upon a Time on Planet Mars
In his book, Dark Mission, Hoagland attempts to pick out the heavily-eroded outlines of once urban city units and megalithic pyramid structures hiding in plain sight on the Martian surface. Famously, an aerial photograph showing a five-sided pyramid on Mars with ridges along the joints of its sides seems to imply strongly that there are more than natural rock formations to be seen on the surface of the red planet. If true, this could suggest that the earthling obsession with pyramid building was passed down from cosmic neighbours who once built the pyramids on Mars–possibly even many eons before civilization on Earth.
Like all good alien conspiracy theories, this one goes deeper–for the willing explorer. Researchers who swear by the ancient ruins on Mars seem conservative next to the claims of such accredited people as US Marine Randy Kramer, former CIA agent Robert David Steele, and Laura Magdaelene Eisenhower, great grand-daughter to the former American president, who say that there is even more to the story. As they tell it, in addition to ancient city ruins and pyramids on Mars, there are also secret modern-day human colonies already well developed. According to them, NASA is many decades ahead in space exploration than the public has been lead to believe, and it’s been operating under a secret space program since the nineteen-fifties.
Amazingly, such wild ideas might suggest that the worn-out conspiracy theory that we didn’t go to the moon could’ve been deliberately concocted to misdirect from the fact that we’ve actually been much further!
Pyramids on Mars: The Artwork
Secret Space Program combines a bit of the Mars we know with a bit of the Mars we wouldn’t otherwise imagine. (It’s been reported that the planet isn’t actually red, but who knows). The vividness and warmth of colour makes this illustration a good complement to interiors with warm wood pieces. A study room or home office set up in mid century modern style would welcome the vibe of Pyramids on Mars, which calls to mind the era of the space race but with a revisionist twist.
